Environmental Enforcement Officer – North London – £32.50 per hour (Umbrella)
A North London Local Authority is recruiting for an Interim Environmental Enforcement Officer to support its Environmental Enforcement Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce environmental and highways legislation across the borough, tackling issues such as littering, fly-tipping, graffiti, and waste offences.
- Investigate and take action on highways-related offences, including skips, scaffolding, hoardings, abandoned vehicles, and obstructions.
- Carry out inspections and issue licences, warnings, notices, and fixed penalty notices where required.
- Provide advice to residents and businesses on compliance and take enforcement action in line with council policy.
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
- Strong working knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act, Highways Act, London Local Authorities Act, and related legislation.
- Understanding of PACE 1984 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
- Proven experience in investigating offences and taking enforcement action, ideally in a local authority environment.
