Dezeen is looking for a talented and ambitious architecture and design editor to lead its new subscription service. Dezeen is the world’s most influential online architecture, interiors and design magazine. We are launching a new subscription service underpinned by a new stream of premium content that provides rigorous analysis and deeper insight to Dezeen’s core professional audience of architects and designers around the world. We are looking for an experienced journalist and editor to help define, launch and lead this new editorial offering.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining and overseeing the delivery of the subscription service’s editorial strategy
  • Writing and editing deep-dive insights, industry analysis and premium features targeted at design professionals
  • Managing and mentoring a dedicated subscription reporter, as well as commissioning and editing freelance writers
  • Assembling, subbing and publishing stories to the highest standard on Dezeen’s platform
  • Ensuring all copy is accurate, engaging, tightly written and adheres strictly to Dezeen’s editorial standards
  • Identifying, researching and coordinating coverage of industry shifts and business trends
  • Working closely with our sales teams to promote the service, build a dedicated audience, drive subscriber acquisition and retention

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least seven years of experience in journalism, preferably writing about architecture and design
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills, with extensive experience producing high-quality journalism about design and architecture
  • Deep knowledge of the global architecture and design industries, with an established network of professional contacts
  • A proven ability to break off-diary stories and write compelling and insightful stories
  • Experience working in a dynamic, digital-first newsroom environment and managing multiple deadlines
  • Proficiency with online publishing and analytics tools
  • Experience with digital subscription-based media (highly advantageous, but not essential)

The subscription editor will report to Dezeen’s editor and will directly manage the subscription reporter. This is a full-time position based at Dezeen’s office in Hoxton, London, UK.
