Who we are

The Different Folk is an artist-first creative production studio, home to a global collective of 20+ leading voices across illustration and animation.

The role

We're a small, ambitious team with big plans. This role sits at the heart of what we're building - part producer, part new business, part whatever-needs-doing. This isn't a role where you wait for the brief to land. You'll help bring it in, shape it and see it through. One week you might be scoping an animation project, the next you're overhauling how we present ourselves to clients or contributing to a wider studio strategy conversation. If you're someone who gets energised by building something, read on.

What you will do

  • New Business & Client Development
    • Build and grow relationships with brands, agencies and commissioners - turning conversations into briefs and briefs into work.
    • Attend client meetings and help present creative and production approaches with confidence.
    • Represent the studio at industry events, screenings and networking opportunities (occasional travelling outside of London).
    • Spot opportunities, support pitches and help convert conversations into projects.
  • Production
    • Lead projects from brief to delivery - scoping, budgeting, scheduling and managing client relationships throughout with the support of our Executive Producer.
    • Build teams around each project, drawing on a solid network of animation talent and freelance collaborators.
    • Own the pitching process; pulling together decks, shaping the creative approach and presenting with confidence.
    • Support and develop our artists & animation directors - understanding their work, protecting their process and helping position them for the right opportunities.
  • Studio
    • As a small team, everyone contributes beyond their job title. You might be asked to help shape our marketing approach, refine how we pitch, develop our animation strategy or think through how we grow. We'll need your thinking, not just your doing.

About you

  • Minimum 3 years of production experience with a focus on animation.
  • Strong commercial instincts - you can scope, quote and protect a project.
  • Genuine understanding of 2D & 3D animation production process from storyboard to delivery.
  • You've worked directly with clients, leading the relationship, handling feedback and keeping things moving.
  • Comfortable with new business - you can start a conversation, build a relationship and see it through.
  • A clear, confident communicator - in a meeting room as much as over email.
  • No-ego, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude - you're as happy making things happen behind the scenes as you are in front of a client.
  • An all‑round lovely human.
