Cheltenham College is seeking an enthusiastic, practical, and highly organised Design & Technology Technician to join its D&T Department. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a creative and forward-thinking environment, providing hands-on support to both staff and pupils across a range of inspiring projects and activities. The department benefits from excellent facilities, including specialist workshops, CAD/CAM equipment, exhibition space, and dedicated preparation areas.

The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing materials for lessons, maintaining equipment and machinery, supporting pupils during practical work, and helping to ensure a safe, efficient, and engaging learning environment. This is an ideal role for someone with strong practical workshop skills, excellent organisational ability, and a passion for supporting creative and technical learning in a busy school environment.

Person Specification
  • Experience working within a workshop, engineering, manufacturing, or educational environment
  • Knowledge of workshop machinery, tools, and Health & Safety procedures
  • An understanding of CAD/CAM equipment and practical D&T processes
  • Good organisational and stock management skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support and encourage pupils
  • A proactive, flexible, and reliable approach to work
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe, tidy, and well-organised working environment

Salary Based on experience and qualifications. Scale grade C – E. The advertised salary has been pro-rated to reflect the term-time nature of the role. 0.88 FTE.

Working Pattern 42 hours per week: Monday to Thursday: 8.45am to 5.45pm, Friday: 8.30am to 5.00pm. This is a term-time contract, plus 15 additional days (equivalent to 3 working weeks to be worked during the school holidays).
