There is a vacancy for a project architect at James Clague Architects to join its office in Canterbury, Kent. James Clague Architects, part of the Latchmere House Partnership, is seeking an architect to join its team in Canterbury, Kent. The role covers projects from concept through to completion.
We are a friendly, hardworking practice with a long-standing reputation in conservation architecture across the Southeast. Our work includes high-end homes, listed building refurbishments and small to medium-sized developments. We specialise in listed buildings and advise on planning and listed building consent.
With a wide range of clients, we are looking for a self-motivated, hard-working and experienced architect to become fully involved in the day-to-day running of a successful architecture business. The candidate must have at least two years of UK experience in a design-led practice.
Our live projects are all at different stages, so we are looking for someone who brings fresh thinking and energy to the team. Applicants must have experience in conservation and restoration work, particularly with listed and period properties.
You will work closely with James Clague (managing director) and the James Clague Architect team on all aspects of design to completion.
Skills and qualifications:
- At least two years’ post-Part 3 experience as a UK-registered architect, with essential experience working on heritage, conservation and listed building projects
- Strong AutoCAD skills
- Strong technical design skills, with experience preparing clear, accurate and buildable drawing and construction packages
- Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations, construction principles and listed building/conservation requirements
- Experience coordinating with consultants
- Proactive, organised and able to manage workload effectively with minimal supervision
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well with colleagues, consultants and clients
- Enthusiastic, detail-focused and motivated to develop professionally within a design-led practice
