CMS2, specialists in advanced manufacturing and critical maritime systems, is seeking a Project Coordinator to work in the In Service Support (ISS) team to coordinate and support complex engineering projects. This role will be responsible for the successful management and delivery of CMS2’s customer spares and repair projects within the ISS team. These are standard parts procurement and basic repair jobs that follow standard workflows and internal processes. The role reports directly to the ISS Technical Manager and will be required to offer additional support to the rest of the ISS team as and when requested by the ISS Director. A key aspect of the role is to be able to successfully manage both internal and external customers (both existing and potential) and build a close rapport with key stakeholders to drive the In-Service projects through to successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage various CMS2’s spares and repairs projects, from RFQ through to delivery and post-delivery customer service support, ensuring that customer orders are supplied to the requirements of the respective contract.
  • Ensure that customer RFO are processed through internal systems to generate quotations, pass governance and satisfy customer and contractual requirements.
  • Source the appropriate stock required for individual customer spares and repairs orders working in liaison with CMS2 Supply Chain and Stores teams.
  • Act as first point of contact for CMS2’s existing MOD customer for all spares and repairs projects.
  • Keep the Spares ‘Live’ trackers updated with timely data input.
  • Provide reports and accurate information to the ISS Technical Manager as and when required.
  • Support the implementation and operation of CMS2’s existing and any new MRP system and offer support and guidance to other members of the ISS Team as and when required.
  • Ensure that customer price lists and stock records are kept up to date.
  • Work closely with all other functions within CMS2 to process spares and repairs contracts through the business.
  • Support other members of the In-Service Support team, working in adherence to CMS2’s processes and procedures.
  • Ensure all Spares and Project material items have the correct documentation packs, to customer and CMS2 Quality requirements.

General activities

  • Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the ISS Department as and when required by the ISS Technical Manager or the business as a whole.
  • Work and/or visit various sites, as required, for short periods, which may involve absence from home.
  • Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Excellent organisation abilities to manage multiple strands of enquiry and drive multiple internal actions across a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience and understanding of managing standard technical projects from sales, initiation through to delivery and post-delivery customer support service.
  • Experience of and a good understanding of inventory and materials management, stock control, production processes.
  • Experience of and ability to forecast all aspects of projects, including both financial and manpower elements.
  • Experience of successful customer engagement and successful delivery of customer order requirements.
  • Proficient user of Excel, Word and experience of using MRP and ERP systems.
  • Experience and knowledge of import/export legislation and standard practices.
  • Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent) in at least Maths and English.
  • Strong communication skills, confident speaker and professionally presented.
  • Strong self-management and organisation skills, and attention to detail.
  • Flexible and positive approach with an aptitude for detail.
  • Be proactive and not reactive.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND/or Degree qualified in technical discipline and/or other relevant professional qualifications in project management with technical experience.
  • Experience working in a Defence environment.
  • Experience of working as part of and leading teams of individuals within the workplace.

Role travel requirements

  • Some travel to customer’s sites may occasionally be required.
  • Some travel to other Science Group offices in the UK may occasionally be required.

Other requirements

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level.
  • To gain SC clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Candidates must be able to obtain a basic security check which will normally require you to have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years.
