Criterion Capital is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our Construction MEP division and support the delivery of complex residential, hospitality, and mixed-use developments across our growing portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and technical delivery of electrical building services systems from concept through to construction and handover, working closely with internal project teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.

This role is responsible for the design and coordination of electrical building services installations across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards, and project-specific objectives. You will play a key role in developing robust electrical design solutions that support efficient project delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing and reviewing electrical building services designs, calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation
  • Designing and coordinating power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, security, access control, data, and other electrical systems
  • Managing the design process from feasibility and concept stages through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Coordinating electrical designs with mechanical, architectural, structural, and specialist disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions
  • Reviewing consultant and subcontractor designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, regulations, and company standards
  • Supporting value engineering initiatives while maintaining performance, quality, and compliance objectives
  • Attending design team meetings, technical workshops, and project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Undertaking site visits to monitor installation progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs
  • Assisting project delivery teams with technical queries, design changes, and commissioning activities throughout the construction process
  • Ensuring compliance with current Building Regulations, British Standards, IET Wiring Regulations, and all relevant industry guidance
  • Supporting the preparation and review of technical submissions, tender documentation, and procurement packages
  • Maintaining accurate design records and ensuring all project documentation is managed in accordance with company procedures

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer within the construction, building services, or property development sectors
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services design and relevant UK regulations and standards
  • Experience designing electrical systems for residential, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use developments
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Trimble, Dialux, Relux, or equivalent platforms
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Working knowledge of BIM processes and multidisciplinary design coordination
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills when working with Clients, Consultants, Contractors, and internal project teams
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical and solutions-focused approach
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • The ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and within fast-paced project environments
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution (IET, CIBSE, or equivalent) is desirable
