Criterion Capital is seeking a driven, hands-on Assistant Site Manager to support the day-to-day delivery of a major fit-out project. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in transforming a commercial space into a high-quality hotel development, working closely with the Site Manager and wider project team.
The Role
As Assistant Site Manager, you will support the Site Manager in overseeing on-site operations, helping to ensure the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest standards.
You will be actively involved in coordinating trades and subcontractors, monitoring progress, maintaining site standards and documentation, and resolving issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Site Manager with the day-to-day management of site operations
- Coordinate labour, trades, and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered efficiently
- Monitor progress against the construction programme and highlight potential delays or issues
- Work closely with contractors, architects, quantity surveyors, and other project stakeholders
- Assist with the coordination and sequencing of works to maximise productivity
- Monitor the quality of workmanship and ensure works are completed to the required standards
- Maintain accurate site records, reports, drawings, and project documentation
- Assist with site inspections, snagging, defect prevention, and close-out
- Support the Site Manager in maintaining high standards of housekeeping and site organisation
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and all relevant statutory regulations
- Help motivate and manage site teams, promoting a positive and productive working environment
- Assist with regular progress reporting and provide clear updates to the Site Manager and project team
- Take a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues before they impact the programme
About You
- Minimum 1 year experience working on construction or fit-out sites, ideally in an Assistant Site Manager or similar role
- Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, quality, and defect prevention
- Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple trades and stakeholders
- Experience working on residential, hotel, or commercial fit-out projects is highly desirable
- Proactive, practical, and solutions-focused with a strong attention to detail
- Able to work effectively as part of a wider project team while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities
- Strong commitment to Health & Safety and maintaining high site standards
- SMSTS and First Aid qualifications
