We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Insurance and Risk Manager to oversee and manage all insurance and risk-related activities across our diverse property portfolio, including commercial properties, residential developments, and hotels. This role will be pivotal in protecting the organisation’s assets, ensuring appropriate insurance coverage, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks across all sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer all insurance programmes across the organisation’s portfolio, ensuring appropriate and cost-effective coverage for commercial, residential, and hotel assets.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with insurers, brokers, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead on insurance renewals, negotiations, and claims management, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
- Undertake insurance tender processes as required, including preparing documentation, evaluating submissions, and making recommendations.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess risk exposure, compliance, and safety standards.
- Identify potential risks and issues, producing clear reports and notifying relevant facilities and operational teams with recommended actions.
- Work closely with facilities management and property teams to ensure risks are addressed promptly and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of insurance policies, claims, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Analyse claims data and trends to identify opportunities for risk reduction and cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations, health and safety legislation, and industry best practice.
- Support business continuity planning and crisis management processes.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on risk awareness and mitigation strategies.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in insurance and risk management, ideally within property, real estate, or hospitality sectors.
- Strong knowledge of commercial property, residential, and hotel insurance requirements.
- Experience managing insurer and broker relationships, including tender processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to risk management.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfortable conducting site inspections and producing detailed reports.
- Good understanding of UK regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- Professional qualifications (e.g. CII or IRM) would be advantageous but not essential.
