Lead a defined workstream from inception to completion, providing technical assurance for Thames Water projects, managing the full design lifecycle in line with RIBA stages, coordinating stakeholders and contractors, and ensuring all designs meet security, technical, and asset compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to Design Lead
  • Responsible for a defined workstream with ownership of the lifecycle of the project/programme
  • Actively participate in supporting other members of the Critec Group.
  • Support other Critec Group team members with their workstreams when required
  • Utilise and maintain report, documents and records using Critec Group and Thame Water SharePoint systems
  • Follow Critec Group processes for managing all aspects of the project utilising approved documentation and assisting with development of new processes.
  • Build strong relationships with Thames Water stakeholders and Tier 1 contractors
  • Follow the RIBA stages as they have been defined by Thames Water for managing Stage Gate 1-4 and PAD 1-4 presentations
  • Manage the activity plan by arranging meetings and preparing reports, briefs and documentation as required for:
  • Site Surveys
  • Project Set-up
  • Site Specific Security Risk Assessments
  • Seek to Understand, Be Understood and De-Risking Workshops
  • Stage Gate and PAD meetings
  • Stakeholder engagement meetings
  • Conceptual Design Solutions
  • Maintain Stakeholder Engagement Information
  • Prepare and deliver Technical Governance reports and meetings with all stakeholders
  • Draft and review prepared CAD Drawings
  • Engagement with CIA/Planning/Ecology & Environmental/CTSAs (SIPA)
  • Issue Service Orders and Principal Contractor/Design Appointment
  • Conduct HSI 18/HSI/14/SHE17 H&S activities
  • Produce accurate reports to support Senior Management in maintaining a transparent line of communication at all levels
  • Attend weekly progress meetings (including site visits) and subsequent time for interface between suppliers, the Tier 1 Framework Contractors, TW and for actions to be resolved
  • Monthly project reviews, client interface meetings
  • Assist with design scope change and resolution
  • Design change process – TQ, waiver production and general assistance.
  • Develop and/or revise TW briefs including site visits as required
  • All aspects of design ‘perusing and commenting’ or ‘review and acceptance’ around security, electrical, technical and asset standard compliance
  • Liaison with Framework contractors regarding the production and subsequent review/approval of all elements of the Contractor’s detailed design
  • Answering of any design queries around the detailed design, asset standards etc
  • Civils / structural design (liaise with relevant expertise), ‘perusing and commenting’ or ‘review and approval’ for provision/supply of infrastructure
  • Liaise with relevant expertise re Electrical design review/approvals
  • Representation to present/manage for the monthly documentation audit reviews, TQ /waiver, design issues discussions with Thames Water
  • Attend relevant meetings (Commissioning, Collaboration, Design, and Progress) as required. Attend Commissioning meeting on Teams – Wednesday 11-12am – not mandatory
  • RAG reviews and documentation
  • Design Programme and Tracker monitoring
  • Installation Programme and Tracker monitoring (liaise with Alan Schofield)
  • Review EWN’s and assist if possible
  • Liaise with Tier 1 Contractor’s design team on progress on day to day issues
  • Develop, review and update KPI’s
  • Snagging tracking, review and reporting – liaise with Commissioning team to advise when a site is snag free (class A and B are the critical ones)
  • Site meeting attendance for any new designs/sites as requested
  • Add value as appropriate
