We are seeking an experienced Data & Controls Lead to join the Global Markets Data Management team within a leading investment bank. This role is responsible for driving data governance, quality, and control frameworks across critical datasets supporting front-to-back Global Markets operations. The role requires a strong understanding of data domains (including but not limited to reference data), controls, regulatory expectations, and data lifecycle management in a global banking environment.

Data Governance & Quality

  • Define and implement enterprise-grade data governance frameworks across Global Markets data domains (reference data, trade data, pricing, market data, risk data).
  • Establish and enforce data quality standards, rules, and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Drive data ownership, stewardship, and accountability models across business and technology stakeholders.

Controls & Risk Management

  • Design and maintain a robust data controls framework to mitigate data-related risks (accuracy, completeness, timeliness).
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory expectations (e.g., BCBS 239, MiFID II, FRTB, Dodd-Frank, EMIR).
  • Lead control testing, audit engagements, and regulatory reviews, ensuring timely remediation of issues.

Data Management & Operations

  • Oversee the lifecycle of Global Markets data, including data sourcing, onboarding, transformation, storage, and distribution.
  • Manage and govern data sourced from external vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, ICE) and internal systems.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of data flows across Front Office, Risk, Finance, and Operations.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a key liaison across business, risk, compliance, operations, and technology teams.
  • Provide expert guidance and governance oversight on data-related initiatives.
  • Present updates, risks, and KPIs to senior stakeholders and governance forums.

Transformation & Process Improvement

  • Drive data transformation initiatives, including process standardization, automation, and platform enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness.
  • Support implementation of data management tools (cataloging, lineage, quality, controls automation).

Reporting & MI

  • Develop and maintain data quality dashboards, control metrics, and governance reports.
  • Provide actionable insights into data risks, control gaps, and remediation progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certifications in data management (CDMP, DAMA) or risk/compliance.

Core Experience

  • 5+ years of experience within investment banking / capital markets / global markets.
  • Strong experience in data management, data governance, and controls frameworks.
  • Proven track record in data risk management, audit, and regulatory compliance.

Domain Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of Global Markets data ecosystem, including: Reference data, Trade & transaction data, Pricing and market data, Counterparty data.
  • Knowledge of financial products (equities, fixed income, derivatives).

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Experience with data governance and data management tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica).
  • Strong analytical skills (SQL, Excel; Python is a plus).
  • Understanding of data architecture, lineage, and ETL processes.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent stakeholder and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive change across global, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong problem-solving and structured thinking.
