About the Strategic Initiatives function
Strategic Initiatives is a newly formed function with a mandate to build, partner or licence both internally across the S&P Group, or externally in the market to form the engine of growth for the organisation. This covers both existing markets where we are active, but also into new areas or adjacent markets where the same set of characteristics offer us a right to win with a differentiated value proposition.
About The Role
We are looking for someone to (in)validate hypotheses, prioritise and build first-contracted-dollar MVPs for a pipeline of possible strategic initiatives, as well as build a repeatable and improving methodology with this to keep the pipeline filled.
What The Job Involves
- Reporting to the Chief Product Officer and a dotted line to the Head of Strategic Initiatives, you will:
- Design-by-doing a framework to assess, validate and prioritise potential opportunities for growth to help the firm with prioritising their investments.
- For the chosen initiatives, define the product vision, roadmap, and validated value propositions.
- Working with the subject matter expert in each initiative, build and deploy GTM strategies.
- In time, own the P&L for one of the identified opportunities, including clear project plans, timelines, investment, budgets, priorities and performance metrics.
- Proactively manage the development of the software through our Agile process and reactively troubleshooting and problem-solving issues.
- Develop and utilize data-driven insights to inform decision making, measure progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Assist a wider team who own other transformation initiatives and product management responsibilities across technology, data science, operations, governance and risk.
- Work with the Chief Product Officer to help design, develop, implement and evangelise product management frameworks, tools and processes across the entire business.
Requirements
- You have significant experience in early stage B2B product management with a demonstrable track record in shipping products as part of a large team.
- You have demonstrable experience in getting stuff moving and having the end results delivered in a large, complex organisation.
- You have a deep understanding of the nuances of building enterprise software product for large financial services organisations.
- You have a proven ability to think strategically, develop a vision and translate it into actionable plans which result in tangible value.
- You have strong, organized project management skills with a track record of successfully leading and delivering complex initiatives.
- You have a proficiency in data analysis and the demonstrable ability to use data to inform decision making.
- You have excellent client-facing interpersonal skills and excel at traversing from high-level concepts to low-level technical detail across highly complex systems.
Nice-To-Have
- You have experience in strategy.
- You have a Bachelors degree in business, management, a technical discipline or a related field.
- A masters degree or MBA is preferred.
- You have experience in capital markets, investment banking, corporate or institutional banking, or in data or benchmarking analytics.

- A history of successfully working with geographically and culturally diverse teams on large projects.
- Strong PowerPoint skills.
- Familiarity with UX design using Figma.
Ideal Profile
You graduated with a degree in computer science or finance, moving into financial services directly or through a strategy role. Your inquisitive nature and obsession with the human in the process pulled you to product management. Having understood how the industry works, you found yourself frustrated with the pace of adoption and moved into B2B start-ups, either as a Founder or early employee. Now that you've succeeded in shipping product into customers' hands multiple times and with a wealth of experience of what to do, when to do it and what works in which situation, you're looking for an opportunity to deploy these skills at scale.
