This Tax Manager role is with an independent, well-established accountancy firm and will support the Tax Director with personal tax returns and advisory services to clients, alongside supporting and reviewing the work of Junior team members. This is a hands-on role that would suit someone who enjoys client facing work and thrives on being an integral part of a collaborative team working on a mixed portfolio of SME clients.
As Tax Manager your responsibilities will include:
- Manage a portfolio of personal clients – be the first point of contact for allocated clients, responding to various client enquiries in an accurate and timely manner
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current legislation
- Preparation and/or review of a range of compliance filings including Capital Gains Tax returns, Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED) returns, Employment Related Securities (ERS) returns & P11D forms etc
- Support the Tax Director on advisory projects, including tax planning and structuring
- Act as a main point of contact for clients, building strong and lasting relationships
- Review work prepared by junior staff, and provide guidance and mentoring
- Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients
- Ensure deadlines are met and workflows are managed effectively

- Be a qualified, part-qualified or exceptional qualified by experience accountant
- Strong tax experience gained within a UK accountancy practice – ideally a minimum of 10 years accountancy practice experience
- In-depth knowledge of UK tax legislation
- Good general IT skills including tax and accounting software
- Proven ability to manage a client portfolio independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
