Looking for a varied, hands-on transactional finance role where your attention to detail will serve as the backbone of a busy finance department? We are seeking a reliable and organized Finance Assistant to join a small, dedicated finance team based in North Oxford. Working closely with a supportive Finance Manager, this role offers fantastic exposure across the entire transactional cycle, payroll, and month-end preparation within a fast-paced, multi-site business environment. This is an ideal role for an enthusiastic finance professional who enjoys a focused, fully on-site team culture and wants to gain comprehensive, end-to-end accounting experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable: End-to-end management of supplier invoices, including accurate coding, matching to delivery documentation, statement reconciliations, and vendor query resolution.
- Revenue Sales Processing: Reconcile daily multi-site sales sheets and end-of-day system reports against cash/card receipts, investigating and resolving any anomalies.
- Payroll Administration: Gather and review departmental wage sheets for accuracy, manage holiday and pension inputs, process leavers, and prepare monthly HMRC returns.
- Cash Management: Complete robust daily and monthly bank reconciliations, monitor cash balances across departments, and flag variances immediately.
- Month-End Support: Assist the Finance Manager with period-end preparation, including stock tracking data and balance sheet support.
About You:
- Proven experience in a dedicated transactional finance role covering accounts payable, ledger management, or payroll administration.
- Exceptional numerical accuracy, high attention to detail, and a proactive approach to solving discrepancies.
- Proficient in MS Excel and comfortable adapting quickly to new internal operating and accounting systems.
- Trustworthy, discrete, and comfortable handling highly confidential business and payroll data.
- Strong communication skills for building relationships with vendors and operational managers.
- AAT qualification (Level 3 or above) or progress toward a professional accounting qualification is desirable but not essential.
