We have an exciting new role…..

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

In 2024, Cripps was awarded “Law Firm of the year: the Independents” at The Lawyer Awards, recognising the firm’s clear vision, strategy and purpose-driven culture. We are looking to recruit a BD Manager who will play a pivotal role working alongside the Corporate practice group in pursuit of its growth ambition. You will have direct responsibility for developing and delivering the BD and marketing strategy for this practice group whose service lines include corporate transactions, employment, commercial/tech and commercial dispute resolution services. You will work across these teams to bring together a comprehensive and compelling offering, targeting ambitious and entrepreneurial mid-market businesses, predominantly based in London and the South.

Working closely with the Head of Corporate, you will play a strategic role in driving growth in this practice group by developing go-to-market strategies, implementing business development initiatives and establishing client relationships. In support of our strategy, you will collaborate with practice group team leaders to develop and implement their action plans. You will be an integral member of the team, working with and engaging senior stakeholders to proactively contribute, influence and instil BD best practice across the firm. Preferably, you will bring experience of targeting mid-market entrepreneurial businesses within a professional services environment.

This role acts as a ‘sales enabler’ in supporting lawyers to win work, as opposed to being a direct sales role. Some of your key responsibilities will be:

Strategy and go-to-market development:

  • Collaborate with leadership to define and implement the GTM strategy focusing on strategic and tactical support for initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for growth within the practice group, working with leadership to align our services to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Understand what is happening in your market, be aware of industry trends and developments that impact our clients.
  • Analyse sales, pipeline data and KPIs to support strategic initiatives and refine our approach.
  • Act as a BD champion driving greater connectivity across the practice group to ensure strategy and go-to-market ambition are communicated and activated.
  • Champion internal BD initiatives across our offices, acting as a coach and mentor to develop BD skills and best practice.
  • Work closely with the key account teams and wider account portfolio ensuring identification of new opportunities and clients.
  • Manage and coordinate strategic pursuits overseeing the pitch management process, including initial qualification, proposals, presentations and debriefs.
  • Ensure we are supporting and coaching stakeholders to identify prospects and engagement opportunities, tracking progress through effective pipeline management.
  • Focus on our client experience and engagement through client reviews and feedback.

Brand champion, marketing and campaigns:

  • Collaborate with marketing colleagues to develop and deliver campaigns to raise market presence and support business development efforts.
  • Establish your brand in the market and connect with clients and intermediaries. Be an ambassador and champion for the brand.
  • Support the creation of thought leadership which underpins strategic and GTM ambitions.

About you:

You will be a strategic thinker, bringing proven interpersonal skills in working alongside and collaborating with senior stakeholders both internally and externally. You will have experience of working in a BD capacity to support, coach and project manage the creation of the GTM strategy including bringing a focus to driving results, tactical pursuit support and key account management best practice. You will also have proven experience of working with a marketing function to deliver multi-channel, lead generating marketing campaigns. Additionally, bringing an analytical mind to understand what is happening in the market, what our performance metrics tell us, leveraging technology and data in decision making. In return, you will be joining a well-established, innovative BD&M team and driving the agenda for this enterprising and ambitious corporate group.

You\’ll spend at least 60% of your working week in the office, though we know there is no one-size-fits-all and arrangements may vary from role to role. Our strong culture is founded on working together in the office, which we aim to maintain through our people being regularly co-located, working cohesively and in collaboration with one another.

At Cripps, our purpose is to make a positive and lasting difference. It’s why we do what we do. In 2024, we became a certified B Corporation to make a legal and very public commitment that we mean what we say. As one of only a handful of UK B Corp law firms, we are held accountable to our social and environmental promises. We are transparent on what we are doing well and where we are falling short. We are excited about the opportunities this affords us to continually improve as a responsible, sustainable, and inclusive business. Come and join us to help solve real world problems, champion big ambitions, and make a personal impact on our people, our clients, our planet, and our communities.
