Annual leave entitlement: 26 days per year + 8 Bank Holidays

Work pattern: 36 hours per week on a shift basis, all year round (52 weeks)

Location: Northwood Road (Harefield Village), with ad-hoc visits/cover at Royal Lane (Hillingdon)

Salary: Scale 3, £29,436 - £29,856 per annum (dependent upon experience) + SSA £1,539 per annum

Meadow High School is a Special Needs School for students aged 11-19 years with moderate and complex needs including challenging behaviour and autism. The school has received a good OFSTED report. We are expanding and opening a new site at Northwood Road. This role will provide caretaking for the school site, ensuring premises are kept to the approved standard and providing a clean, secure environment. The role will begin at Royal Lane (Hillingdon) site before moving to the new site after opening. A full induction and training will be provided.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing caretaking services for the school site.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and safety of premises.
  • Assisting in lock-up and opening duties (5:45 am to 6:30 pm).
  • Supporting school staff and students as required.
  • Carrying out general maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding and welfare of pupils.

Annual leave must be taken during school closures only (e.g., full winter break).

Applicants should have:

  • GCSEs or equivalent (essential).
  • Sound experience in general maintenance and repairs (essential).
  • Ability to perform physical demands such as substantial walking, heavy lifting and moving items (essential).
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork (essential).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of all pupils (essential).
  • Ability to prioritise workload and take initiative (essential).
  • Flexibility with working hours (essential).
  • Availability to start at 5:45 am and lock-up at 6:30 pm (essential).
  • Experience working in schools (desirable).
  • Full and clean UK driving license (desirable).
