We are seeking to appoint an experienced SEN Teacher/Leader who can provide positive and stimulating learning experiences for our students and lead the subject area of English/Literacy as part of the school’s Middle Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will be effective in building and maintaining positive partnerships with families and the school community, in addition to being able to work well as part of a team or autonomously.
Organisation skills and a highly structured approach will be key to supporting the ability to teach a range of subjects to students at their differing academic levels. The school provides a person-centred curriculum, adapted to each child and young person’s developmental and learning needs, offering a variety of educational programmes designed to meet the needs of students with severe to complex learning needs, Autism, communication and sensory processing difficulties, and associated behaviours.
We are looking for candidates who will take the lead to plan, co-ordinate and quality assure their given subject area to ensure that the subject is consistently well planned throughout the school, paying special attention to the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience. Bringing their experience of practical, experiential and therapeutic education strategies to bear, the successful candidates will ensure that our students really engage in learning and are given all the tools they need to progress.
In order to be successful in this role, you will:
- Have attained Qualified Teaching Status.
- Have experience co-ordinating, leading and quality assuring Literacy / English as a subject leader.
- Have experience of the National Curriculum framework.
- Have experience of working with young people with a range of learning needs and destination aims, and developing appropriate strategies to help them achieve their goals.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills with a practical approach to engaging students.
- Have experience of working with children/young people with special educational needs and learning disabilities who may be on the autistic spectrum.
- Have experience preparing students for examinations and assessments.
