Are you experienced in working in a financial position? Do you have experience of working in a busy school finance environment? Perhaps you worked as a School Business Manager and would like to work in a school environment again? Are you looking for a part-time finance role to fit around your family or other commitments?

Bourne is a one-form entry primary school with a nursery set in a lovely location in South Ruislip. We have the rare opportunity to invest in a part-time finance officer who wants to join our team and become part of a supportive school community. Your job will be to support the Headteacher, managing the financial aspects of the school.

Main Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining all accounts in accordance with statutory and legislative requirements.
  • Manage FMS Financial Accounting software or such other packages that may be used.
  • Ensuring all payments are properly authorised, having regard to levels of delegation approved by the Governing Body.
  • Checking all payments received, and ensuring that money reconciles with FMS.
  • Ensuring cash and cheques are banked as and when required.
  • Being responsible for preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Managing the administration of the school’s credit card account.
  • Managing the school’s contracts log to ensure contracts/leases are monitored and updated regularly in conjunction with finance policies.
  • Preparing and updating records in a timely way in accordance with regulatory procedures e.g., complete VAT returns.
  • Supporting with end-of-year procedures and other regulatory processes.
  • Providing regular updates to the headteacher, SLT and governing board on finance matters.
  • Ensuring smooth operation of the procurement of supplies, including prompt delivery and appropriate quality, with emphasis on value for money.
