Cricketqube delivers inclusive cricket sessions across care homes, community centres, schools, and family settings across the North East of England. Our sessions bring cricket to people who wouldn't normally have access to it: care home residents, older adults, and young people in underserved communities. It's hands‑on, rewarding work, and every session makes a visible difference. We're a small, ambitious team, and everyone who joins us has a real impact on our growth.
We're looking for a cricket coach to join us in Newcastle immediately on a four‑month contract, with the expectation that strong performance and organisational growth make it longer‑term. You'll deliver sessions at care homes, community centres, and schools across Newcastle and the wider North East — working with children, young people, and older adults who may have mobility, cognitive, or other health conditions, and adapting your sessions so that everyone can take part.
What You'll Do
- Deliver inclusive cricket sessions at care homes, community centres, and schools across the North East
- Adapt sessions to participants — mobility aids, cognitive conditions, special educational needs, mixed abilities, etc.
- Build rapport with care home staff and participants so sessions become a highlight of the week
- Keep accurate session records and submit a short impact form after each session
- Follow Cricketqube's safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times
- Attend occasional paid training and shadowing sessions to develop your skills
What We're Looking For
- A genuine enthusiasm for working with people and a patient, warm approach
- The ability to work independently and use your initiative on the day
- Experience delivering physical activity or sport sessions in any setting
- Good communication skills — with participants, venue staff, and the Cricketqube team
- A valid DBS check or willingness to complete one (we'll support this)
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a car (mileage reimbursed at 45p/mile)
Ideally you also have:
- A cricket background or coaching experience (formal qualifications not required — we'll provide training)
- Experience working with older adults, vulnerable adults, or people with additional needs
- An interest in growing into more responsibility as we expand
What We Offer
- £13/hr for all sessions delivered and prep time
- 45p/mile mileage reimbursement for work travel
- A structured shadowing period before you go solo
- Full session plans, risk assessments, and equipment provided
- Support for cricket and multi‑sport coaching qualifications
- Career development — we're growing fast and promote from within
- Pension enrolment if eligible
- A team that's genuinely invested in your development
Hours
Flexible, starting at approximately 8 hours per week. Sessions are typically weekday mornings and afternoons. Hours may increase as the programme grows.
Contract
This is a four‑month fixed‑term contract, starting as soon as possible. We already have sessions scheduled and need someone in place as soon as possible. For the right person, there is a clear pathway to an extended or permanent role as Cricketqube grows.
