The Position
We are currently seeking forward-thinking individuals who ideally hold their Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety Supervision or possess a highly transferable skillset to become part of our matchday team as Area Managers. The position is open to the right people who want to make a difference and are willing to commit to 90% of matchday fixtures. You will be managing a team of supervisors, customer safety stewards, and SIAs. Your top priority will be the organisation and management of your team and the smooth running of the operation in your assigned area. Excellent management skills and the ability to work efficiently in a team are essential for success in this position. You must be able to show leadership qualities, integrity, and professionalism at all times.
What You'll Do
- Assume a proactive approach to monitoring your staff and assigned area.
- Respond to minor incidents and communicate with event control to ensure smooth resolution.
- Ensure pre-event briefings are carried out in relation to health and safety procedures, evacuation points, and other key event information.
- Report any suspicious activity, incidents, or potential hazards to the chief steward or event control and undertake any immediate action required.
- Provide information and assistance to spectators and staff arriving at the Kia Oval.
- Be prepared to assist with the evacuation of the venue and direct spectators to the relevant holding areas as directed by the chief steward or event control.
- Resolve spectator/crowd disruptions as required.
- Complete post-matchday reports to provide feedback and operational insights.
- Oversee staff management via the Ubeya system.
Requirements
- Candidates must be aged 18 or over with a full right to work in the UK.
- Physically fit and mobile.
- Great communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- Accountability and ownership.
- Excellent leadership and time‐keeping skills.
- Well presented at all times.
- Previous management experience is essential.
- Can commit to 90% of season fixtures.
Desirable skills
- Having or working toward a Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety Supervision is essential.
