Somerset Cricket Foundation is seeking a dedicated Community Coach - SEND to deliver and develop cricket programmes across Somerset, inspiring the next generation and creating lasting community impact.
About the Role
You will focus on delivering high-quality cricket sessions in special schools, alternative provision, mainstream schools with SEN support, resource bases, and post-16 colleges. You will support the Super 1s programme across Somerset, helping to embed cricket within diverse communities and promote inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging cricket sessions to primary, secondary, and SEND school children in school and the community throughout the year.
- Expand the reach of cricket to new SEND settings and develop strong relationships with schools and teachers.
- Provide formal and informal teacher training to leave a lasting legacy of cricket.
- Organise and support primary and secondary competitions and festivals, encouraging participation at schools and local clubs.
- Recruit, train, and support Young Leaders within the Super 1s and table cricket programs to support disability cricket activities.
- Create sustainable pathways for players and coaches in disability cricket, supporting local clubs and developing CPD opportunities.
- Promote women’s and girls’ activity and support junior programmes such as All Stars and Dynamos.
- Develop initiatives to build confidence, communication, leadership, and independence among participants.
- Engage with community organisations to strengthen relationships and expand SEN cricket delivery.
- Support school holiday coaching programmes and other SCF initiatives.
- Mentor volunteers and sports coaches in disability inclusion, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Level 2 Cricket Coaching qualification or higher
- Experience working in school, SEN, or club environments
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Experience coaching across different ages, genders, and abilities
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and a clean ECB DBS check
- Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle for travel
Desirable:
- Experience working with volunteers and community groups
- Delivery of competitions and festivals
- First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it
- Knowledge of sports development and volunteer engagement
- Strong project management skills

We are respected and regarded by the ECB as a Leading Organisation in Safeguarding, Schools Delivery, Workforce Development and Disability Cricket and continually deliver outstanding impactful outcomes across a wide range of our delivery programmes.
We are here to facilitate the playing and improvement of recreational cricket in Somerset as well as positively impacting our communities through cricket. This involves working in close partnership with many organisations and individuals as well delivering courses, programmes and projects.
