About the role
We\’re currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer to join our European IT team, based in the UK (hybrid working available).
The role is responsible for designing and implementing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions, enhancing user experience and ensuring security and scalability. This role will also support the transition to a modern workplace environment, deploying VDI solutions, and managing the seamless deployment of applications to ‘low-bandwidth’ operational sites.
Main responsibilities
In this role you\’ll:
- Design and implement VDI solutions that meet business needs and enhance user experience.
- Manage and deploy applications seamlessly to ‘low-bandwidth’ operational sites, ensuring optimal performance.
- Enhance user experience with VDI by optimising performance and ensuring security and scalability.
- Monitor and manage VDI environments to ensure high uptime and reliability.
- Reduce reliance on legacy applications by supporting modern virtualization technologies.
- Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for VDI initiatives.
To be successful in this role you\’ll need:
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Experience with multiple Cloud software products, platforms and vendors.
- Demonstrable professional accreditations / certifications such as ITIL, PMP, Prince2, TOGAF, PMBOK, Azure etc.
- An in-depth knowledge of VDI technologies and bestpractices.
- A detailed understanding and experience of deploying applications to production environments.
- A knowledge of security and compliance standards relevant to VDI.
- Language: English (Fluent). Desirable: Second European Language (preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with people at all levels across the organisation.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- The ability to translate business requirements into viable technical solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills (all directions).
- The ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Significant hands-on, technical experience of working as part of an IT operations team in a virtualisation role.
- A college diploma or university degree in business, information systems, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience of working in a federated matrix model.
- Experience with VDI platforms such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, or similar.
