Position Overview

We have a list of operating companies that currently have independent technology services and full IT Teams. We have a programme to centralise those services and migrate the local IT services onto the central technology platforms known collectively as 'UnITy'. The UnITy migration process is technology focused. The technical stages include security tasks to ensure a minimum security posture prior to onboarding, migration plan per server, execution and decommission. These stages will involve the Transformation Engineer working with the operating company IT teams and infrastructure colleagues to complete full UnITy migration. Migration activities are driven by the internal centralization programme as well as new company acquisitions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Transformation Lead and technology colleagues to define and plan the migration of local technical services to the centralized platforms and service offerings.
  • Analyse the source environment and assist the OpCo directly with the planning and execution of remediation tasks – i.e. implementation steps, risk appreciation & mitigation, etc.
  • Assist migration project managers in identifying and planning technical tasks as well as identifying risks and issues that may impact the project.
  • Partake in risk management reviews and advise on mitigation plans.
  • Contribute to technical migration plans and task lists in association with project managers and technical colleagues.
  • Coordinate technical tasks between operating companies’ technical teams, central IT colleagues and relevant third party suppliers.
  • Support users during migration activities to ensure smooth transitions when moving from local to centralized services.
  • Contribute to specific communications to business teams regarding migration steps and business responsibilities.

    • a. Networking – VLAN’s, routing, IP configuration, LAN/WAN topologies.
    • b. Deep knowledge of Active Directory – Object structure and manipulation, DNS, DHCP, GPO’s, PKI, Powershell, authentication.
    • c. Windows client operating systems.
    • d. Firewall configuration and rule set construction.
  • Understands ITIL concepts, such as Incident, Request & Change.
  • Competent in Virtual technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V or Azure.
  • An appreciation of environments with more stringent security, compliance, and process requirements.
  • Able to analyse servers and applications and plan required migration changes.
  • Technical knowledge and independent nature sufficient to analyse workloads, predict risks and issues, raise concerns and come up with solutions in a timely manner to avoid project delays while proactively working to avoid issues.
  • Excellent documentation and record keeping.
  • Sensitive to stakeholder management requirements and able to effectively communicate to different stakeholders including internal colleagues, operating companies’ stakeholders and third parties.
  • Able to coordinate technical activities across technical teams.
  • Language: English (Fluent). Desirable: Second European Language (preferred).
  • Able to translate / explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Established organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.

Experience / Education

You are/have:

  • Educated to a bachelor’s degree level in a technical related subject or commensurate experience in the field.
  • At least 5 years of technical / data centre migration experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in assisting technical migration tasks in complex environments.
