Job Title – Class 1 Hi-Ab Driver
Location – Dumfries
Salary – Circa £35,000 – £45,000 OTE DOE
The Role
The HGV Driver will be working within Hydro International\’s UK Wastewater Services (UKWWS) team. We support water utility companies working on sewage sites across the United Kingdom.
Requirements
- Must hold current valid UK driving licence and ideally have no more than 6 penalty points on your licence.
- Able to carry out work some distance from base which will require overnight stays.
- Able to work outside on sites which are connected with wastewater (Sewage).
- Capable of working at heights from scaffold platforms, ladders, or mechanical equipment.
- Undertake training and work as part of a confined space team.
- Able to carry out work tasks that involve physical strength, stamina, standing, kneeling, or crouching.
- Must take pride in the vehicle and keep it clean, tidy, and serviceable.
Competence and Qualifications
- C+E/HGV 1 licence
- LOLER 1998 appreciation and awareness
- Valid driver’s CPC and Digi card
- Crane Operators licence
- Confined spaces to City and Guilds is desirable
- Slinger/crane supervisor
- Mechanical Engineering background is desirable
Skills & Attributes
- At least 2 years’ Class 1 driving experience
- Qualified crane operator with experience
- Experience of British Standard Code of Practice for the safe use of cranes BS7121
- Experience of loading flatbed wagons and securing loads
- Basic knowledge of industrial mechanical fitting
- Basic knowledge of Health & Safety issues in connection with the construction industry
- Ability to prioritise workload and work in a systematic and organised manner to ensure work is completed within set timescales
- Be friendly, professional, reliable with good people skills who enjoys supporting and working as part of a team
- Able to communicate effectively to customers, company management & staff
- To work as part of a team and to co-operate with other staff / trades
- Conduct the work activities in a professional manner and promote a positive image of the company
Key Duties
- Weekly driving/operating crane and working on sewage treatment sites – therefore the role will entail being away from home Monday to Friday on a regular basis.
- You will take the lead role in all lifting operations and securing loads and be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the lorry and crane.
- Working week will involve lifting, removing, and installing machinery plus working as part of the Mechanical/electrical engineering team that may involve some manual fitting work.
- Working outside in all weathers. PPE clothing will be provided.
- Overnight stays in the cab of the lorry.
- If required, work on a Saturday morning to undertake a thorough weekly clean and routine maintenance of the lorry and load the lorry for the forthcoming week.
