About the Role
We’re looking for a dynamic Technical Sales Manager to lead specification growth across the UK's stormwater sector. You will secure product specifications at design stage, influence key technical decisions, and help position Hydro's industry-leading technologies across a wide range of infrastructure, residential and commercial projects. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role for someone who thrives on building relationships, presenting technical solutions, and driving strategic commercial outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive specification sales plan for the UK stormwater sector.
- Secure specification positions by engaging designers, engineers, local authorities and major contractors.
- Build and maintain a strong project pipeline, ensuring all opportunities are tracked through CRM.
- Deliver CPD presentations to engineering and architectural practices.
- Represent Hydro at trade shows, seminars, exhibitions and key industry events.
- Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers to support accurate forecasting and project conversion.
- Work closely with technical, proposals and customer service teams to ensure seamless solution delivery.
- Provide valuable insights on market needs, competitor activity and future opportunities.
- Ensure all responsibilities comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act and ISO 9001 standards.
What We’re Looking For
Technical & Sector Expertise- Strong experience in technical solution selling
- Understanding of Civils, Infrastructure, Residential & Commercial construction markets
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and design documents
- Proven ability to secure specifications and develop project opportunities
- Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Highly self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing a large territory
- Professional, collaborative, and customer-focused
- Results-driven with excellent time-management skills
- Experience in technical sales within the construction sector (Civils/Infrastructure preferred)
- Proven track record in specification-led sales
- Experience delivering CPDs or technical presentations
- CRM experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365 desirable)
- Experience in stormwater, drainage or environmental engineering
- Knowledge of SuDS, stormwater legislation and planning frameworks
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
- Digital project intelligence systems (e.g., Barbour ABI)
- MS Office and digital presentation platforms
