Location: Based in the South with regular travel between branches requiring overnight stays.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the management for growth, sales, customer service, operations, team leadership and site management within the wastewater services business.
- Manage Operations and Business Development giving a full 360 relationship between Sales and Operations.
- Lead business development at an operational level; guide the development of internal structure to support growth, including expansion, recruitment, resource management and business planning as required.
- Act as the Senior Key Account Manager and point of contact with clients, providing an escalation point for all major contracts for the relevant area.
- Direct operational leads and teams to ensure safe, efficient delivery to time, cost and quality; coordinate and report on branch activities to maximise efficiency and ensure KPIs and budgets are met.
- Provide overall area leadership of strategic objectives and develop profit centers to contribute to financial success.
- Responsible for all elements of P&L for the area branches, including financial and operational reporting; monitor job costings and implement financial controls as needed.
- Oversee effective project management focusing on quoting, planning and delivering projects to time, cost and quality using company resources to satisfy customer and business needs.
- People management: develop and performance manage employees to increase responsibilities and provide career development, coaching management on personnel matters.
- Write reports and analyse relevant business data to enable effective forward planning and satisfy KPI requirements of the contract or framework.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements across the business; work with SHEQ Manager to implement ISO9001, ISO14001 policies and procedures.
- Encourage and develop relationships with stakeholder groups; manage sites and assets safely.
- Promote business-wide objectives and support business development initiatives.
Requirements:
- Current valid driving licence.
- Dynamic role requiring regular working outside core hours to suit business needs.
- Regular travel including overnight stays at potentially short notice.
- Participate in emergency cover rotation; on-call for a week at a time including weekends or bank holidays every few months.
Competency & Qualifications:
- Broad knowledge of the wastewater industry and ability to guide the business in technological developments.
- Senior level sales experience in wastewater in a Key Account Manager role or similar, with customer experience at the core of outputs.
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience at a senior level.
- Engineering qualification to Degree/HND or equivalent, or qualified by experience.
- Experience with water/engineering equipment and water industry/environmental sectors preferred.
- Commercially astute with excellent business acumen.
- Ability to prioritise own workload and direct reports in a systematic and organised manner to meet deadlines.
- SMSTS – Site safety management desirable.
- IOSH safety qualification as a minimum; good knowledge of Health & Safety in construction.
- Experience managing NEC 3 Contracts.
- Project management training with experience in planning and coordination; proficiency with PM tools (e.g., Microsoft Office/Project, GANTT charts).
- Proven people manager with experience delivering time-critical projects.
- Confined spaces to City and Guilds – preferred.
- Excellent MS Office skills; strong presentation, written and oral communication and customer service skills.
