Business Controller – Maternity Cover – UK & Ireland Cement & Lime
At CRH, we are recruiting a Finance Business Controller for the UK & Ireland Cement and Packed Products (C&PP) cluster on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, based in either the UK or Ireland.
As a Finance Business Controller, you will support the UK & Ireland C&PP Finance Director through regular and ad‑hoc reporting, reviewing and monitoring financial results. The role has strong engagement and influence with both the UK and Irish finance teams across the business planning and reporting cycles and on all financial reporting matters.

Main Responsibilities
- Prepare consolidated reports, high‑level commentaries, financial analysis, and presentations for key stakeholders as part of the key monthly reporting processes.
- Liaise with the Tarmac C&PP and Irish Cement Finance teams in respect of budget preparation, forecasting, strategic plan preparation, and other processes throughout the year.
- Support performance improvement, working closely with the UK and Irish finance teams on management information development and process simplification.
- Work alongside the Finance Leader to ensure C&PP compliance and engagement with Internal Controls, Internal Audit and External Audit teams, including being the primary point of contact for the coordination of SOX activities and process improvement activities in the business.
- Offer support and oversight across a range of topics including performance bridges, performance initiatives, capex approvals and spend, UK CO2 purchase program, weekly sales reporting.
- Take ownership of ad‑hoc projects and data analysis as required.
Experience & Qualifications
- Qualified accountant CIMA, ACCA or ACA, ideally available immediately or with a short notice period.
- Proven ability to manage workflows with multiple stakeholders in an effective manner.
- Demonstrable data analysis and manipulation skills.
- Proficient in Excel; Power BI skills are valuable.
- Experience using SAP, ExQL or Hyperion is an advantage.
- Drive for results combined with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Hybrid role in the UK or Ireland, with the need to travel to our Birmingham office once a week.
