My Client is looking for a detail-driven Estimator with proven experience in steel frame construction to join our commercial team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for new build and refurbishment projects, with a focus on steel-framed structures across commercial, industrial, and logistics sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Price steel frame elements, groundworks, cladding, MEP coordination, and associated packages.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain the most competitive quotes and build cost databases.
  • Evaluate tender documentation, identify risks, and prepare value engineering options.
  • Liaise with design teams, planners, and project managers to ensure comprehensive pricing strategies.
  • Produce bills of quantities and cost breakdowns using estimating software and Excel.
  • Participate in tender reviews, adjudications, and handovers to delivery teams.
  • Keep up to date with market rates, trends, and supply chain fluctuations.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in estimating roles within the steel frame construction sector.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, especially steel portal frames, structural steelwork, and associated packages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software such as ConQuest, Causeway, or similar.
  • Strong commercial awareness, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative pre-construction team.
  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on tenders for warehouses, distribution centres, or commercial steel-framed buildings.
  • Familiarity with D&B tendering processes.
  • CSCS card or equivalent construction-related certifications.
