The opportunity: This is a great opportunity to join a well-established and globally operating communications and technology business, delivering network and connectivity solutions across maritime, government and enterprise environments. You’ll be working in a technically interesting space, supporting networks that underpin critical communications across satellite and terrestrial infrastructure. From a role perspective, this is ideal for a Network Engineer looking to move into a more project-led environment. The network estate is stable, so the focus is less on reactive support and more on building, improving and evolving network solutions.

Day to day: Your day to day will be centred around project delivery and network improvements, with a strong hands-on focus across Cisco and Fortinet technologies. You’ll be designing and building network solutions, configuring routers, switches and firewalls, and working across routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF, as well as VPN technologies including IPSEC. Alongside project work, you’ll support the existing network estate where needed troubleshooting issues across WAN environments, analysing logs, and resolving more complex routing or firewall-related problems. You’ll also get involved in maintaining and improving network security, working with technologies such as FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer, and ensuring best practice across configurations. Documentation is a key part of the role, so you’ll be maintaining network diagrams, configuration records and support documentation, as well as collaborating closely with wider engineering teams on ongoing improvements and deployments.

Who we are looking for: We’re looking for someone with a solid networking foundation, with hands-on experience across Cisco routing and switching and some exposure to Fortinet firewalls. You’ll have a good understanding of protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VPN and IPSEC, and be comfortable working in WAN environments. This would suit someone currently at 2nd line or developing 3rd line level, who wants to step into a more project-focused role and deepen their technical skillset across both networking and security. You’ll need to be eligible for SC clearance, and happy to be onsite five days a week initially while this is processed, moving to a more hybrid working pattern thereafter.

The Next Steps: If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, apply today or get in touch with Joe White at CRG TEC for more information.
