CRG Recruitment are currently engaged with one of our clients to recruit an IT Security Engineer who will be responsible for strengthening our client's cyber security resilience through operationally, integration and assurance of both IT security operations and infrastructure security controls. This role will require you to perform operational security engineering alongside infrastructure security engineering. You will work closely with IT, Infrastructure, and Cloud teams, as well as with managed security service providers, ensuring security tooling, preventative controls, and governance processes are consistently applied, aligned with regulatory frameworks, and embedded into daily operations. Please note this role is fully remote but will require some UK based travel.
Responsibilities
- Perform operational security engineering alongside infrastructure security engineering.
- Work with IT, Infrastructure, and Cloud teams and managed security service providers to ensure security tooling, preventative controls, and governance processes are applied.
- Align security practices with regulatory frameworks and embed them into daily operations.
- Provide escalation handling and incident investigation support in collaboration with a managed SOC where applicable.
Key Skills and Requirements
- Experience in a technical information security role, covering operations and infrastructure security.
- Experience with or alongside a managed SOC, including escalation handling and incident investigation.
- Experience securing and maintaining cloud platforms across SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS environments (Microsoft Azure highly desirable).
- Exposure to endpoint and server security solutions (e.g. Microsoft Defender suite, AV/EDR).
- Experience of system hardening, secure configuration, and patching in Windows and Active Directory environments.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical risks to non-technical audiences.
- Exposure to policy or procedural documentation to support governance and assurance.
- Experience implementing or administering NAC solutions, Varonis, or similar security platforms.
- Practical experience creating or tuning SIEM/SOAR playbooks (e.g. in Microsoft Sentinel).
- Hands-on experience securing Linux workloads or cloud-native services.
