The Piping Journeyman will be responsible for installation, repair, and maintenance of piping systems in industrial and commercial settings.

Typical Duties

  • Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems, including valves, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Perform routine inspections and troubleshoot issues in piping systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other tradespeople, engineers, and project managers to complete projects on time.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in piping systems and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of appropriate fittings and specific piping systems.
  • Knowledge of steam condensate, chilled water, and air.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Proficient in using tools and equipment related to piping installation and repair.
  • Perform a variety of duties that may change often and quickly.
  • Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy based on accepted practices, procedures, and project specific specifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk for longer periods of time during a regular workday.
  • Use hands and arms to reach for, handle and manipulate objects.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, stairs and other climbing devices.
  • Work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched and crawling positions.
  • Be able to see naturally or with correction to perform tasks safely.
  • Able to work in all types of environmental and weather conditions to include severe cold, heat, wet or dry and high winds.
  • Work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
  • Work in noisy conditions.
  • Work in environments that may include toxic or caustic chemicals or fumes that are in use or being stored.

Employees will not be subjected to hazardous conditions without the proper training and safety equipment relative to the work being done.
