Electrical Panel Wirer – Job Description

Department: Production • Reports to: Team Leaders

SUMMARY: Electrical Panel wiring in Load Banks and Transformer Units.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Working with managers to implement the company’s policies and goals.
  • Panel wiring to schematic diagrams (as per experience, qualifications or training).
  • Lay out electrical components to the design wiring diagrams.
  • Responsible for the quality control of their work.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
  • Complete daily production logs (time sheets).
  • Identifying training needs.
  • Communicate with other operators.
  • Clean and maintain work area.
  • General housekeeping and continual improvement activities.
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Liaise with the Production Manager to maintain department production, quality and ISO9000 standards.
  • Reporting any potential employee welfare problems to the Production Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in repair and maintenance work (if qualified).
  • Perform back‑up for warehouse, year‑end stock‑take etc.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training to new employees.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • To have worked as a Panel Wirer for at least 3 years.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery.
  • Generally as per job specification.

Working Conditions:

Normal for a manufacturing environment; work involves frequent lifting of materials. Machine operation requires the use of safety equipment including but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewellery are not permitted.
