We are seeking a dedicated General Cook to join our highly disciplined catering team providing essential, high-volume meals within a secure residential facility in Altrincham. This role is focused purely on operational delivery, ensuring every resident receives consistent, wholesome, and hygienically prepared food, three times a day.
The Role:
- Operational Excellence in Catering
- Position: Full-time, Permanent (40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7).
- Hours: Must be flexible to meet the demands of a 7-day operation (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner service periods).
- Reporting To: Catering Manager / Sous Chef.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Food Production: Executing basic food preparation (e.g., vegetable prep, portioning) accurately and efficiently as directed.
- Consistency: Delivering hot, fresh, and wholesome food suitable for high-volume service to meet strict daily meal requirements.
- Hygiene & Safety: Strictly adhering to cleaning schedules, food handling procedures, and all allergen control protocols relevant to a vulnerable resident population.
- Compliance: Diligently completing all due diligence recording, including temperature checks, wastage logs, and cleaning records.
- Teamwork: Working collaboratively with the brigade to ensure smooth and timely production across all kitchen sections.
What We Look For:
- 1 year of cooking experience in a busy kitchen environment.
- A formal Catering Qualification is preferred, but not essential.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, professionalism, and a collaborative mindset.
