Crest Nicholson's South division are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team working from their Addlestone office. As a leading New Homes Developer with a history of creating well-designed sustainable communities for over 50 years, we're proud to hold a well-regarded capability for delivering award-winning developments, recognised by the NHBC and industry-leading Commercial, Design and Customer Service bodies. Our diverse property portfolio meets the needs of a wide range of purchasers from first-time buyers to families and investors.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with Crest, you will be working to ensure timely and accurate cost management, dealing with contractual issues, procurement and payment of sub-contractors for complex large volume development projects from pre-operational stage through to final account settlement.

Duties include:

  • The identification and procurement of suitable sub-contractors.
  • The negotiation and letting of subcontracts within required timescales.
  • Providing the cost-data feedback to Divisional Estimating Department.
  • Administration and management of the financial aspects of the development.
  • Reviewing and forecasting the latest cost estimates and reporting.
  • The relationships with external employers such as Housing Associations undertaking valuations, cash flow forecasts, obtaining warranties, etc.
  • Assist at all times in maintaining a safe working environment within Company workplaces and applying the Company’s Health and Safety Policy for their own, their colleagues, third parties and the public’s benefit.

Individuals must act to minimise danger and report all potential dangers and accidents to their immediate superior or designated Health and Safety Officer.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Assistant Quantity Surveyor in a main contractor or housebuilder.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and produces accurate work.
  • Knowledge of the Residential Development market.
  • Commercially aware with analytical and proactive approach towards problem solving.
  • Strong ability to negotiate and influence.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and written.
  • Pragmatic; able to assess situations by considering the benefits and risks for all parties.
  • Confident in managing suppliers whilst negotiating and agreeing contracts.
  • Builds excellent working relationships.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable requirements:

  • Degree or other technical qualification.
  • Experience in high volume house building, e.g. 200+ units.
  • Experience over qualifications will be considered as we're open to supporting you with qualifications.
