Crest Nicholson's Midlands division has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Manager to join the team.
You will be supporting the Development Executive, leading the Design and Planning team to deliver planning applications for major development projects, taking responsibility for the maximisation of profit delivered. Our design model brings both bespoke and core house types together as an effective method to building unique and high quality homes.
You will take a central role in the continuing relationship building with local government, using your already established network of contacts to aid our promotion of developments through the planning process. You will take responsibility for value creation through the acquisition and planning process and ensure that the Project Programme is clearly established and complied with.
A key part of your role will be working closely with Architects and other members of the Development team by setting an appropriate brief and demanding compliance with it ensuring that planning conditions and technical requirements are fully analysed. Developing professional relationships with planning authorities and other local government bodies will enable you to proactively promote land for planning permission with a long term view.
You will keep abreast of new legislation and government attitudes towards planning and new homes construction, reporting to the wider land and planning teams to keep them up to speed on any changes in regulations.
We are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Extensive experience of the planning promotion and application processes
- Understanding of development appraisals and cash flows preferable for new appointments
- Some design experience would be highly beneficial
- Confident in presenting and negotiating plans and agreements
- Experience of working on major long term residential led projects
- Experience of effectively managing consultant teams
- Good IT skills with the Microsoft Office package
- Thrives under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Highly motivated and able to drive forward team progress
- Organised and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients in a professional manner
- Good understanding of private housing and the affordable housing funding regime
- Good network of contacts with agents, landowners and consultants
- Relevant qualification ideally but must be educated to at least degree standard
