Crest Nicholson Special Projects are recruiting for an Internal Firestopping Remedials Manager to join their expanding and successful team, focusing on Internal Fire Remedial Works. The successful candidate will be reporting into the Construction Director, and will be responsible for managing, assessing, and coordinating internal fire stopping and fire remedial works across a diverse portfolio of existing residential buildings. The role ensures all fire remedial works achieve full compliance with Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, Building Control requirements, and Fire Engineer specifications. The role will operate across traditional masonry, concrete, and timber structures, ranging from mid-rise to high-rise buildings, ensuring that all internal fire safety measures are robust, compliant, and properly documented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fire Remedial Management
    • Manage and oversee internal fire stopping remedial works across multiple live and completed projects
    • Review existing buildings to identify fire stopping defects, non-compliance, and areas requiring remedial action
    • Ensure fire stopping works align with approved fire strategies, fire engineer designs, and statutory requirements
    • Monitor quality, progress, and compliance of fire stopping works on site
  • Compliance & Legislation
    • Ensure full compliance with: Building Safety Act (Where required), Building Regulations (Approved Document B and relevant guidance), Fire Engineer specifications and reports, Building Control requirements
    • Maintain a strong understanding of current and evolving fire safety legislation and guidance
    • Support the organisation in meeting its duty holder responsibilities under the Building Safety Act
  • Site & Project Engagement
    • Spend 3 days per week visiting live projects to inspect fire stopping installations
    • Carry out surveys and intrusive inspections where required
    • Engage with site teams, contractors, and consultants
    • Provide clear, actionable feedback to site and senior management teams
  • Desktop Studies & Reporting
    • Spend 2 days per week working from home producing desktop studies, fire remedial surveys and reports, photographic and written records of findings
    • Prepare clear, auditable documentation suitable for Building Control, Fire Engineers, and regulatory review as well as internal review.
  • Coordination & Technical Support
    • Coordinate closely with the Technical Lead to resolve complex or non-standard fire safety issues
    • Liaise with Fire Engineers and fire stopping contractors to obtain additional technical information, request and review engineering judgments, and agree compliant remedial solutions
    • Support the Quality and Contracts Managers with technical input relating to fire safety and remedial scopes

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of fire stopping systems and installation standards
  • Knowledge of Building Safety Act
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations (with emphasis on fire safety)
  • Fire strategies and fire engineering principles
  • Experience of working on existing buildings, including mid-rise and high-rise residential projects
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and fire engineering reports
  • Experience of producing detailed surveys, reports, and compliance documentation

Working Pattern

  • 3 days per week on site (project visits and inspections)
  • 2 days per week working from home (desktop studies, surveys, reporting)
