I'm recruiting on behalf of an established engineering manufacturer specialising in bespoke bulk solids and powder handling equipment. This is an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of projects whilst helping modernise and develop the company's engineering capability. The business designs and manufactures a range of equipment used to handle powders and bulk materials. Much of the work is genuinely bespoke, solving customer-specific challenges rather than configuring standard products.
The role will involve:
- Designing bespoke bulk handling equipment from concept through to manufacture
- Working on conveyors, feeders, mixers, valves and associated process equipment
- Producing and reviewing detailed manufacturing drawings
- Developing and modernising legacy designs into 3D CAD environments
- Working directly with customers to understand applications and requirements
- Supporting manufacturing and workshop teams throughout project delivery
- Helping drive improvements in engineering standards and design processes
We're interested in engineers with:
- Significant Mechanical Design experience within machinery, process equipment or capital equipment
- Experience of bulk solids, powder handling, materials handling or similar process industries
- Strong SolidWorks or 3D CAD experience
- Understanding of fabricated equipment and manufacturing processes
- A practical approach to engineering and problem solving
This is a hands-on engineering role offering genuine ownership, technical variety and the opportunity to influence how future products and designs are developed. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
