Overview


Cresconova Labs offers a specialized supplemental learning centre tailored for the hectic schedules of busy families focusing on students ages 8-16. This position is a teaching position as well as managing machinery. The Makerspace Manager role is critical to the everyday operations of Cresconova Labs. This is a multifaceted role including, but not limited to, machinery maintenance on all floors, health, safety, and fire compliance, hazardous material database and control, creating courses for our student body and training new staff on machinery. In addition, Cresconova Labs strives to be at the forefront of sustainable makerspace, as such this role will create a strategy to drive actionable sustainability throughout the space, including but not limited to, material usage, material choices, etc.


Key Responsibilities:


This role requires but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Makerspace Operations: Operate, maintain and instruct others on a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Computer Programming, VR/AR, Bio-Design: Proficiency with instructing robotics, game design, Unity, Unreal engine, bio-mimicry a plus.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all operations meet safety, hygiene, and safeguarding standards.
  • Document: Create and maintain all training spreadsheets and materials, Create and maintain all Zines for machinery, Create and maintain all flammables lists and placards.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Collaborate closely with the Chief Creative Officer and other team members to design and implement in-person and hybrid learning experiences.
  • Community Building: Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages innovation and learning.
  • Sustainability: Work with leadership to create a sustainable, future forward approach for Cresconova Labs.


Family Engagement

  • Assist with programs such as speaker series and Open house events.


Teaching & Classroom Support

  • Create and teach courses, ensuring alignment with the Cresconova Labs Framework.
  • Support contract instructors with assistance regarding classroom activities, materials preparation, and student engagement.


Expectations for Growth

  • Short-Term: Learn a variety of machinery and software, ensure studio support for courses, and learn curricular development using Labs framework. Focusing on skills within the Cresconova Labs framework and confidence on equipment and software. Managing Cresconova educators and staff members.
  • Long-Term: Demonstrate mastery of the role by driving initiative moving towards machinery maintenance, leading lessons with machinery focus, and supporting educators with machinery.

  • Training: Receive training on Cresconova Framework, attend PD for Cresconova Framework, Jedi and SEL, and equipment operation.
  • Growth Opportunities: Working with a leadership team to grow into a manager role overseeing Cresconova educators.
