The Senior Business Analyst is the key liaison between executive sponsors and project teams with the purpose to drive requirement elicitation to an agreed solution all within the project scope and budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong business and technical aptitude and know how to proactively facilitate both requirement and design discussions to completion and serve as the subject expert for project team members. The Senior Business Analyst is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the business is satisfied with new software releases at the feature/functionality level.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Organizing, preparing, and leading requirements definition sessions with the business stakeholders and/or subject matter experts
- Documenting and translating complex business problems into business requirements and functional technical solutions
- Providing the right level of documentation for the audience and objective (i.e. User Stories, BPMN, Wireframes, UML, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Breaking down business requirements into concise JIRA tickets (Epics, User Stories, Tasks) and defining Acceptance Criteria
- Working closely with UI/UX Designers to break down complex functionality into structured, intuitive UI
- Communication of requirements to key development resources to aide in application design for front and back end solutions
- Providing business and system knowledge to team members for better understanding of business needs
- Ensuring that the software meets project objectives and customer expectations
- Managing multiple work streams, assessing priorities, and delivering complete, accurate work products
- Proactively resolving time conflict issues working with direct management and project manager(s)
Person Specification:
- 4+ years of experience in IT Business Analysis (with at least 2-3 of those years in eCommerce)
- Strong domain knowledge of eCommerce based on past experience as a Senior Analyst (Shopify experience would be a bonus but not essential).
- Strong understanding of Agile & application development
- Requirements elicitation & ability to translate into viable, innovative solutions
- Excellent technical writer & strong technical integration skills
- Ability to create logical diagrams of complex interfaces
- Excellent facilitation skills
- Anticipates needs and takes initiative to address challenges
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving
- Detail-oriented and capable of delivering a high level of accuracy
- Degree level qualification in Information Technology, Engineering, Business or related discipline
- Experience in working in Agile teams
- Experience in gathering specifications for web-based applications
