WORK WEEK IS TUESDAY - SATURDAY
Is this the Linux & Datacentre Administrator role for you?
Creideas are partnered with a fast-growing SaaS client who are looking to add a Linux & Datacentre Administrator to the team on a permanent basis. Internally, you’ll be known as an Infrastructure Engineer.
Whilst you are only contracted to visit the London office once per month, you are required to visit the data centres on a weekly basis, including Saturdays to work on maintenance. The working week for this role is Tuesday to Saturday, meaning you have Sunday and Monday off.
Core to this role is the ability to blend Linux (Ubuntu) sys admin expertise with containerised compute, networking, and data centre operations know-how. You’ll take full ownership of their internal data centre environment, which is currently spread across 3 separate sites.
Collaboration is key, so you’ll be in regular communication with SRE, Cyber, Network & Software teams, ensuring their 24x7 market facing environment is continuously running smoothly. You’ll also prepare, review and execute changes, troubleshoot issues, and improve the platform through automation and documentation.
What will you do as a Linux & Datacentre Administrator?
- Continuously manage and improve Ubuntu fleets in production (CentOS, RedHat operating experience also useful)
- Take ownership of data centre ops, racking & stacking, cabling, power planning, server installations, vendor coordination, etc
- Manage LXD/LXC and some Docker container platforms (no hypervisors or VM stacks)
- Chef automation for config management and IaC using Terraform for AWS
- Act as a key responder to infrastructure incidents/issues, covering containers, networks, storage, systems, etc)
- Collaborate with Network Engineers for changes, whilst also performing network ops on switches and firewalls
What skills do you need as a Linux & Datacentre Administrator?
- LXC or Docker container experience in a production environment
- Networking fundamentals knowledge (BGP, DNS/DHCP)
- Automation via Bash/Python, Git/GitLab
- Chef/Ansible/Puppet experience in production environments
What’s coming up?
On top of having the opportunity to own their data centre environment, there is a potential large scale data centre consolidation project coming up in 2027, which you would be an integral part of.
