Location Hybrid – preferably Edinburgh, Scotland or if not then Harwell Innovation Centre, Oxfordshire; either location combined with home working. An opportunity for someone with data engineering skills to join a team developing a platform to transform nature recovery and finance.

Key role & responsibilities

  • Active contribution to platform design and build, including front and back-end development.
  • Building-out and maintaining the front end of the CreditNature platform including mobile and desktop dashboards and data capture apps.
  • Structuring, maintaining and validating data pipelines and databases within cloud services.
  • Contribution to the origination, testing and development of new products and services.
  • Pulling together resourcing plans for the CreditNature platform build including licences, subscriptions and API agreements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in computer science, software or computer engineering, applied math, physics, statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience in data structuring and database management, with the ability to design and maintain efficient data pipelines and databases.
  • Proficiency in working in a cloud environment, specifically with tools such as Microsoft Azure, demonstrating a modern approach to data management.
  • Familiarity with front-end development processes, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of software development.
  • Proven track record in a technical role within a fast‑paced, startup environment, or equivalent experience demonstrating adaptability and resourcefulness.
  • Experience of working within an innovation team, showing the ability to contribute to and drive new ideas and solutions.
  • Exposure to environmental data or work within sectors related to environmental finance or sustainability, providing a unique understanding of the industry context.
  • Experience in automating data pipelines, demonstrating an understanding of efficiency and reliability in data management.
  • Familiarity with resourcing plans or managing software resources like licences, subscriptions and API agreements, displaying organisational and planning skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle.
  • Professional certification in a cloud technology like Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS could be an advantage.
  • Certification in front‑end development frameworks (like React, Angular, or Vue.js) can be beneficial as the role involves building and maintaining the front end of the CreditNature platform.
  • A master’s degree or relevant professional qualifications would be an advantage.
