Health, Safety & Environmental Officer will take an overview of Health & Safety for the bank as well as handling individual personal issues as they arise. To ensure compliance with company policy statements. To carry out induction training, manual handling and workstation risk assessments for all employees. To review building fire risk assessments annually or as necessary. To maintain records of all health & safety activities, training and issues. To monitor and promote environmental initiatives, recycling schemes and report as required. To ensure the provision of a physically secure environment in conjunction with the banks service providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working alongside the Facilities Operations Manager review all Health & Safety for the bank and group as well as handling individual personal issues as they arise.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the operations team.
  • Maintain a high standard of Health & Safety within the working environment as is practicable.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Policy Statement.
  • Carry out H&S induction training for all new employees and contractors as appropriate.
  • Oversee all accident/incident and near miss investigations and implement corrective actions to reduce and mitigate overall accident/incident and near miss figures.
  • Carry out workstation assessments for every employee in-line with the HSE.
  • Review and action yearly Risk Assessment Report for Fire Precaution Regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all assessments.
  • Organise training and supervise Fire Marshalls and First Aiders.
  • Assist Landlord in organising six-monthly Fire Drills at BWH.
  • Organise and implement Major Incident Evacuation/Invacuation procedures in conjunction with Landlord.
  • Maintain H&S records including Staff Register, Fire Marshalls, First Aiders and Safety officers.
  • Ensure accurate publishing of all H&S details on company notice boards and Intranet.
  • Assist Facilities Operations Manager with the continual improvement of ISO14001 accreditation.
  • Monitor and report environmental performance and implement resources to reduce carbon footprint where possible.
  • Organisation of environmental awareness campaigns.
  • To assist in other areas of the PCS department as and when required.
  • Available 24/7 to respond to emergency situations.

Geographical area: Europe, United Kingdom City: London Education: High school / Secondary school / A levels / AS levels / IB Educated to A level standard, or equivalent.

Experience: Understanding of health & safety law, understanding of hazard and risk, knowledge of permit to work systems, knowledge of best practices in security provision and management, knowledge of environmental requirements both legal and best practice.

Required skills: Presentation skills for training and induction presentation, being able to work on own initiative, organisational skills, PC literate, ability to write clear and precise policies and documents, knowledge and ability to train others in any health & safety, security or environmental matters, able to respond effectively under pressure.
