As an Intern in the Middle Office Bonds Sales Support team, you will gain invaluable exposure to the control and support functions for our Global Markets Division sales desks. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop a foundational understanding of financial markets, operational processes, and the critical role of Middle Office in bridging Front Office trading and Back Office settlement. You will also have the chance to enhance key skills such as analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate sales deals in the sales system and investigate discrepancies in trade economics, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Provide support during Primary Syndication activities as needed.
  • Assist with data gathering for counterparty checks and monitoring of simple Straight Through Processing (STP) flows.
  • Observe and learn from process improvement initiatives and their implementation within the Credit Market Business Line dealing with products like bonds and repos.
  • Support the team in gathering and compiling data for reporting purposes and document basic processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent Academic qualification / Speciality
  • Graduated within the past 18 months with a minimum 2:1 or equivalent
  • Experience in Middle Office / Back Office / Trade Support is advantageous

Required skills:

  • Familiarity with capital markets processes and front office systems for Credit and Bonds.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain integrity, and demonstrate sensitivity to operational risk.

Technical skills required:

  • Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Excel VBA and Python is beneficial.
