Join Credit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank's pioneering Sustainable Investment Banking (SIB) team, a global leader in sustainable finance. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainable finance and investment banking within a dynamic and purpose-driven environment. The role is based in London, covering predominantly UK clients along with a select number of Irish and Swiss-based clients.
The main competencies required include a proactive and curious mindset, a strong understanding of sustainable finance, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities that are, but are not limited to:
- Support the SIB UK Lead in the origination of sustainable finance opportunities, including developing client presentations, conducting ESG risk assessments on new transactions, and tracking developments in sustainable finance regulation.
- Manage the business pipeline and structure sustainable finance frameworks while engaging with Second Party Opinion providers and ESG investors.
- Conduct research and analysis on ESG trends, sustainable finance regulations, and industry best practices to inform business development efforts.
- Develop presentations for client meetings and standard materials for external and internal marketing.
- Assist in preparing Sustainable Finance Frameworks and Impact Reporting indicators for clients seeking to issue sustainable finance debt instruments.
- Contribute to ESG risk assessments and due diligence by referencing the bank's internal sustainable finance guidelines in collaboration with internal teams.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Corporate and Leveraged Finance (CLF), and Energy and Real Asset (ERA), to integrate sustainability into financial solutions.
- Assist in identifying bankable opportunities for clients and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing initiatives, such as ESG research publications and training sessions.
Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent. Graduated within the past 18 months, with a 2:1 minimum or equivalent.
ExperiencePrior internship or academic experience in finance, ESG, or sustainability-related roles is a plus.
Required skills- Proactive and curious mindset with a desire to drive positive impact through finance.
- Good understanding and genuine interest in sustainable finance and climate change.
- Knowledge of corporate finance, capital markets, and debt instruments.
- Familiarity with Sustainable Finance Frameworks (e.g., Green, Social, Sustainability, and Sustainability-Linked).
- Understanding of Green, Social, and Sustainability-Linked Bond and Loan Principles, EU Taxonomy, and SFDR.
- Knowledge of carbon emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and their sectoral nuances.
- Ability to think proactively, prioritise, and work reliably under pressure to tight deadlines.
Excellent command of PowerPoint and familiarity with SBTi, ESG data providers (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics, Moody's ESG) is advantageous.
