We are looking for an experienced Cloud Architect with expertise in AWS and cloud-native infrastructure, platforms, security and automation technologies. You will help design scalable, secure and resilient cloud solutions for our clients, enabling digital transformation through modern architecture, platform engineering and DevOps practices.

You should bring practical experience of cloud technologies and infrastructure modernisation, alongside an understanding of how AI-enabled tooling and modern engineering practices can improve delivery outcomes. This role is suited to someone who is comfortable shaping architecture, advising clients and leading small teams or workstreams, while remaining close to delivery.

This is a permanent position within our Technology Solutions function. At Credera, we operate a flexible hybrid working model, requiring 3 days per week onsite - either at client sites or your local Credera office (London, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle). We value collaboration and client impact, balancing flexibility with in-person connection to deliver exceptional results.

Please note: Due to the nature of this role and specific client engagement, any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory BPSS and SC security clearance. To meet the client's eligibility requirements, applicants must have been resident in the UK for the last five years and must not have spent more than six consecutive months outside the UK during that period.

Requirements

You will combine hands-on architecture with technical leadership, helping clients adopt, modernise and optimise cloud platforms while delivering secure, scalable and cost-effective solutions in public sector and regulated environments.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in cloud architecture, engineering and transformation delivery
  • AWS cloud architecture certification (Associate or Professional level)
  • Strong expertise in AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures, with experience designing secure, scalable and resilient solutions
  • Experience designing cloud architectures and supporting cloud migration or modernisation initiatives
  • Experience defining target architectures, platform capabilities and technical roadmaps aligned to business objectives
  • Strong understanding of platform engineering, Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices
  • Experience implementing cloud security, governance and resilience controls within enterprise environments
  • Experience leading small teams or workstreams, delivering solutions to time, cost and quality expectations
  • Ability to build strong relationships with client stakeholders and provide architectural guidance to delivery teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks and identify pragmatic solutions
  • Good understanding of cloud financial management principles and the drivers of cost-effective cloud delivery
  • Experience working within client-facing consulting environments and delivering business value through technology
  • Experience supporting and mentoring engineers and junior team members
  • You will be required to hold active SC clearance for this role
Desirable Skills
  • Public sector or regulated industry experience (government, healthcare, financial services or similar)
  • Experience across multiple cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation or Bicep
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitLab
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud landing zones and platform engineering capabilities
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, security and resilience patterns
  • Experience supporting cloud engineering, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams
  • Cloud architecture certifications in additional public cloud platforms (Azure or GCP)
  • Experience using AI or agentic techniques within the role through GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or equivalent
  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimisation frameworks

If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
