We are seeking a Director and Software Engineering Capability Lead to join the Technology Practice Leadership team. This role combines the core responsibilities of a Technology Director with accountability for the health, direction, and performance of Credera’s Software Engineering capability.
Here’s what you will do:
- Lead complex consulting engagements for our clients and own the evolution of Credera’s Software Engineering capability.
- Work with senior client stakeholders to define technology, architecture, and engineering direction.
- Design and deliver modern software solutions aligned to business outcomes.
- Inspire and guide teams while engaging at the lowest level of technical detail where required.
- Set clear operating approaches and engineering standards; ensure ongoing health of the capability across performance, engagement, and financial sustainability.
- Guide the transition towards AI-enabled and AI-native software engineering.
- Work closely with other capability leads to drive alignment and shared ways of working across the Technology Practice.
We operate a flexible hybrid working model, requiring 3 days per week working onsite - either at client site or in your local Credera office (London, Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle).
Responsibilities:
- Set the strategic direction for the Software Engineering capability.
- Maintain the operational hygiene of the capability, including performance management and utilisation.
- Lead the operational and strategic evolution of Software Engineering.
- Drive the transition towards AI-enabled and AI-native software engineering.
- Act as an anchor on key client engagements.
- Own capability growth, including hiring and performance management.
- Contribute to the recognition of the Credera brand through publishing viewpoints and presenting at conferences.
- Build Credera's capability in your area of expertise.
- Develop and mentor others, acting as a line manager for architects.

Who you are:
- Deep technology expert with current, hands-on engineering experience.
- Strong familiarity with advanced software engineering approaches.
- Proven experience of P&L ownership and financial operational leadership.
- Demonstrated people leadership and ability to create an environment for engineers to excel.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- A track record of calm leadership under pressure and ethical judgement.
- Consultancy or professional services experience.
