We are looking for a Befriender Volunteer to provide meaningful companionship at our supported living service in Doncaster. Volunteering with Creative Support is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people with support needs while working alongside our team to deliver truly person-centred care.

We're seeking someone who is warm, sociable, and a great listener. As a Befriender, you'll spend time with the people we support, offering friendly conversation and companionship through regular meet-ups. If you can spare a couple of hours and are able to volunteer on a consistent basis, we'd love to hear from you.

Activities might include having a relaxed cup of tea, playing a board game or getting out and about in the community. This role could develop further into planning and delivering regular activities for the people we support. If this sounds like something you'd enjoy and you can offer a few hours on a regular basis, we'd be delighted to hear from you!

This role is based within a supported living service for adults with diverse needs, including mental health conditions and learning disabilities.

Volunteer Duties:
  • Meet on a regular basis
  • Provide companionship and conversation whilst respecting boundaries
  • Help people we support to engage with the local community, supporting social inclusion and encouraging independence
  • Report any safeguarding concerns to Creative Support staff members
  • Understand and work within Creative Support Policies and procedures, respecting boundaries
  • Attend regular supervisions with your allocated volunteer supervisor and complete any training provided
