Do you have the commitment and positive values to make a difference to the lives of people living in our Oaklea House supported living service in Barrow in Furness? Our Supported Living Service in Barrow provides person-centred support to adults who have learning disabilities, some of whom are on the autistic spectrum and have mental health needs. We are looking to recruit passionate and motivated Senior Support Workers with a genuine interest in providing quality care to the people we support and becoming part of our friendly and energetic staff team.

You will provide person-centred care and support to tenants to take part in all aspects of everyday life and to enjoy a wide range of activities. You will have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the young people we support. You will have the maturity to be able to work within a positive behaviour support framework, to accept responsibility and to grow in confidence as a skilled practitioner.

Senior Support Worker duties include:

  • Providing personal care, administering medication and lone working
  • Working full time hours (37.5) on a rota basis, covering 7 days per week, including sleep over shifts.
  • Supporting with overseeing staff deployment and rotas and working in a flexible manner including working some evenings and weekends.
  • Working closely with local multi-disciplinary teams and community based agencies to provide holistic, wrap-around support
  • Facilitating service user engagement, involvement and peer support
  • Ensuring that there are robust methods of quality monitoring
  • Being part of the local on-call team
  • Providing excellent customer care and proactively communicating with stakeholders in respect to risk management and the care and welfare of the people we support.

You will have a strong ethical duty of care and a commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals. As this is a senior role, experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs is required. Full training is provided, as is the opportunity to work towards QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care.
