Job Description
We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team in Wellingborough as an enthusiastic and motivated support worker to provide care and support for 6 individuals with Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, and other needs to enjoy an excellent quality of life in this residential care home. If you would like the rewarding role of working with people who have learning disabilities to achieve their aspirations and join the local community then we would love to hear from you.
The service is located close to Wellingborough town centre. There is onsite parking for staff and good transport links. The service is a large Victorian House with an expansive garden which the individuals love to spend time in during the warmer weather. Individuals living at the service are sociable and active and enjoy lots of interaction with their staff. They enjoy spending quality time with the staff team at the service and out in the community. Examples of activities include walks around the local area, going shopping, sensory activities, shopping in the town centre, day trips out, visiting arts and crafts, and board games holidays at home or abroad.
Support Worker duties include:
- Assisting with daily living skills like cooking, shopping and using public transport to providing emotional support for both the service users and their families, your impact will be truly transformative. You will also support with personal care while ensuring dignity is maintained, and handle tasks such as administering medication, managing paperwork ensuring the service runs smoothly. Providing respectful and dignified personal care including the administration of medication.
- Working shifts which include mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays including Christmas day
- Supporting service users with the activities they enjoy, such as bowling, Shopping, days out, holidays on their own or as a house Supporting individuals to manage all aspects of their home environment and ensure it is reflective of their personal tastes and preferences
- Support with budgeting and finances, cooking and meal preparation
Previous experience with individuals who have learning disabilities or autism is not essential, full training will be provided. However, you must be able to demonstrate a warm and caring personality with a positive and proactive approach to the role.
