About the service: Extra Care Service with self-contained flats for older people with a variety of needs.

Purpose of the role: We are currently looking for a Bengali speaking volunteer befriender to meet up regularly with one of our residents at our service in Bromley. If you have a couple of hours to spare and can commit to volunteering on a regular basis, we’d love to hear from you.

Are you a warm and chatty person, who’s also a good listener? As a befriender, you will provide companionship to our resident by meeting together regularly for a cup of tea and chat. We ask that you are able to communicate confidently in Bengali in order to engage in conversations together.

As a volunteer with Creative Support, we offer training for your role, access to a volunteer supervisor, an induction, a monthly volunteer newsletter, and an online volunteer support network group on Zoom.

Volunteer duties:

  • Meet on a regular basis.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures, and report any concerns.
  • Develop a friendship and enjoy conversations together whilst respecting boundaries.
  • Complete any training provided.
  • Attend regular volunteer supervisions with your volunteer supervisor.
